Community Fridge – Penn Hills Library

Community Fridge

Say “Hello!” to the Penn Hills Library Community Fridge!

What is it?

The Penn Hills Library Community Fridge is an ongoing library resource available to our patrons. We keep the fridge stocked with fresh veggies, meal kits, milk and dairy products, juice, and so much more. On our pantry shelves you’ll be able to find anything from canned goods, snacks, and breakfast items to pads, tampons, and diapers!

We are partnering with local organizations including the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Jamar Place of Peace and the Peanut Butter and Jelly Club, 412 Food Rescue, the Good Food Project (for the delicious and fresh meals in the freezer), Penn Hills Community Garden, Shiloh Farms of Point Breeze, and Trader Joe’s in East Liberty!

Thanks to the help of our community partners, we are always adding new items to the shelves. Our main restock days will most often occur at the beginning and end of every week, but surprise donations are happening all the time! We are so excited to be able to engage with the community in this way, so please stop by and check it out!

Where is it?

The Community Fridge is located in the the Library on our upper level around the corner from our meeting rooms.

When can I come?

Patrons can stop in at any time during regular hours to take anything they need.

Can I donate?

We are always looking for ways to expand and improve, so if you are interested in donating to the program or working with us, just call the library at 412-775-4700, or email us at phlibrary@pennhillslibrary.org.

We hope to see you soon!
