About Love Your Library Month

Every September, libraries across Allegheny County celebrate Love Your Library Month.

Thanks to the generosity of the Jack Buncher Foundation, all participating Allegheny County libraries receive a pro-rated portion of a $200,000 match pool to support their general operations.

It is because of gifts from individual donors like you that we are able to transform Penn Hills Library into a dynamic community space where everyone can access what they need. All donations received during September 2026, up to a maximum of $500 per donor per library, will count toward the match pool.

Love Your Library Month Events:

Raffle Baskets!

All month long, we will have raffle tickets for sale for a chance to win one of five exciting raffle baskets!

Tickets will be on sale at the front desk throughout the entire month of September. Tickets are 10 for $10 for 20 for $15. We will accept cash, check, or online donation via credit card.

Book Swaps!

Join us on Thursday, September 10th from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday, September 19th from 1pm to 3pm for a book swap as part of our Love Your Library celebration! We will have books for you to take, but please feel free to bring 1-5 books to swap with your neighbors. Please register.

Booktoberfest Fundraiser

Join us for a free-to-attend, 21+ fundraising event featuring local breweries, authors, craft vendors, tattoo artists, and a traditional German dance performance on Friday, September 25th from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. Please register.
